Job Description

Our client is hiring for a Shop Foreman. Under the supervision of the Service Manager, the Foreman's focus is to improve shop operations, manage technician productivity, streamline repair processes, and provide quality service to the customer. One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Freightliner experience/certifications preferred, but not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that repairs are completed accurately by managing technicians and the repair process.
  • Performs technical work when necessary.
  • Makes competent decisions as it relates to the repair procedures on the vehicles.
  • Inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure that it meets required standards.
  • Maintains contact with customer on repair process, parts availability, and pricing.
  • Keeps Service Advisor informed on work in shop so they can inform customer.
  • Organizes technician assignments to meet work requirements in a flat-rate/commission shop.
  • Uses the computer based business system to record repair orders and read and interpret system reports to aid in shop management.
  • Complies with prescribed operating and safety standards.
  • Works cooperatively with other dealership employees.
  • Controls shop expenses.
  • Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Must have basic understanding of Windows and Microsoft Office applications. Thorough understanding of business operating system.
