What you will do

In this vital role you will work with Amgens Digital Integration and Predictive Technologies organization, a global process development function that develops and deploys state of the art advanced computational technologies. We are seeking a Senior Engineer to develop, apply and deploy rigorous mathematical models of process technologies with the goal to increase the efficiency of drug development and manufacturing processes.

The successful candidate will apply Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), models of transport phenomena, turbulence models, and multi-phase flows to produce and maintain first-principle mechanistic models and surrogate models addressing a wide variety of challenging problems across many functions including: drug substance, drug product and drug delivery devices. Responsibilities will include identifying key product/unit/systems properties/phenomena, formulating the fundamental equations describing these, examining modeling simplification and assumptions, implementing models in commercial and proprietary software and deploying these models to internal users via an enterprise modeling infrastructure. The Senior Engineer will collaborate heavily with internal stakeholders, as well as document and communicate the underlying technical basis of the models for the benefit of and use by engineers and scientists responsible for delivering processes and devices to operations.

Basic qualifications:

Doctorate degree OR

Masters degree and 3 years of related experience in engineering Or

Bachelors degree and 5 years of related experience in engineering Or

Associates degree and 10 years of related experience in engineering Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of related experience in engineering

Preferred qualifications:

Ph.D. in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or related field.

Modeling of fluid mechanic processes and/or mechanical devices.

Parametric feature-based CAD generation.

Understanding of biopharmaceutical processes, unit operations and drug delivery devices.

Basic programming skills

Good interdisciplinary project management skills.

Ability to independently uncover and resolve issues associated with the implementation of scientific and engineering projects.
