You will help Pfizer in the critical area of portfolio management for our Research and Development function. Your will help in the design and implementation of business processes to enable product research and development, portfolio prioritization, resource allocation and risk management.

You will join the Oncology Research and Development (ORD) team. As a Senior Associate, Portfolio Operations you will have a strong project management background with contemporary knowledge of preclinical and clinical research operations within the Oncology therapeutic area and should possess broad knowledge of the WRDM organizational structure. This role will partner with senior leaders within the Portfolio and Scientific Operations group including the Sr. Manager Portfolio Management and Business Analytics and Portfolio Management Lead in order to effectively manage and communicate key business objectives to the ORD senior leadership regarding portfolio strategy, resourcing and governance outcomes. You must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a willingness to solve complex business objectives thru iterative problem solving. The candidate should have a strong planning and scheduling skillset to manage a complex and large portfolio of both research and development projects.

How You Will Achieve It

Monitor and communicate progress against portfolio delivery within ORD

  • Monitor progress against portfolio goals and milestone delivery to ensure delivery of ORD business objectives.
  • Partners with ORD Portfolio and Operations leaders to ensure operational excellence in portfolio delivery across ORD.
  • Develop and maintain tracking tools to support portfolio delivery.
  • Provide ad-hoc and regular updates to senior leaders on key project deliverables and milestones.

Provide support for streamlined and efficient governance processes across ORD (ORDB, Ops Comm, etc)

  • Manages the governance process within ORD including the following key objectives:
  • Monitors governance needs of clinical project teams and works with GPD project managers to dynamically schedule ORDB governance interactions to ensure delivery of ORD clinical assets to timelines.
  • Works with discovery project team leaders and research project leaders to anticipate stage gate transitions and appropriately schedule governance interactions with ORDB.
  • Plan and schedule biweekly Ops Comm requests to assist with review and action summary/escalation for key financial requests in support of clinical programs.
  • Streamline and support ORD governance processes (ORDB, ORD discovery stage-gate progression, ORD Ops Comm, etc).
  • Reviews project team governance submissions to ensure that they meet the predefined criteria for appropriate scientific documentation, brevity and adherence to ORDB standards.
  • Assists the Business Analytics and Portfolio Management Lead with the collection/review of team minutes and authoring of the ORDB governance guidance with responsibility for management of final materials in the ORD Portfolio Dashboard.

Provide business analytics support to help drive ORD portfolio delivery and resource optimization

  • Support the Sr. Manager ORD Portfolio Management and ORD Business Analytics and Portfolio Management Lead by running resource reports (Pfizer Activity Tracker) and portfolio milestone reports (SAP-BO) to develop routine and ad hoc business analytics for senior leaders.
  • Monitors and manages Activity Tracker to ensure accurate assignment of resource work types and may assist the Sr. Manager ORD Portfolio Management with updates to training material and provide ad-hoc training.
  • Develops portfolio milestone tracking progress reports for ORD senior leadership.
  • Ensures the department administrative professionals provide regular updates on organizational changes to ensure an accurate ORD organizational chart and provides first line support for and continued development of the ORD resource tracking tool.

Manage and improve upon existing ORD portfolio and resource management tools

  • Monitor and manage key content within the Oncodash portfolio management tool including ensuring accurate updates with respect to project team leadership assignments.
  • May provide training to broader ORD leaders and colleagues on key portfolio management tools (Oncodash, Activity Tracker, etc).
  • May lead initiatives to develop new ORD portfolio and/or operations tools and dashboards.
  • Develop and Implement new processes to streamline portfolio governance.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Highly organized individual with strong project management skills and keen focus on tracking timelines across multiple business objectives.
  • Knowledge of overall drug discovery and development processes.
  • Well developed problem solving skills with proven ability to solve complex problems thru iterative analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Sharepoint, etc.)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across the organization
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, with a track record of on-time delivery in complex and often ambiguous situations and within tight timelines
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Nice-to-Have
  • Relevant pharmaceutical experience
  • BA/BS life sciences degree or equivalent an advantage but not essential.
  • Experience with data querying tools and systems.
