Job Description

Job Title: Recruitment Specialist (temporary position)

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Recruitment Supervisor


Sources, recruits, pre-screens and refers job applicants to hiring managers/directors to fill vacancies in their departments. Maintains accurate records of recruitment activity, new hires and workflow for the Human Resources Department. Handles each new hire from point of introduction through completion of onboarding process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Maintains complete confidentiality at all times.
  • Confers with managers/directors to identify personnel needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skills required of candidates for jobs in their department.
  • Reviews applications/resumes and pre-screens applicants to verify work history, education, training, job skills and salary requirements.
  • Handles all internal applications/requests for transfer or promotion using same criteria as with external applicants.
  • Presents the merits of working at Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort in a positive light to all job applicants, answers questions about the company and promotes the benefits.
  • Is dedicated to the recruitment of SRPMIC Members consistent with the company's Community and Indian Preference guidelines.
  • Conducts pre-employment assessment testing if requested by a department.
  • Develops and maintains network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates.
  • Participates in job fairs; sets up booth and recruitment displays.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with schools, alumni groups and other public organizations to find and attract applicants.
  • Utilizes Internet online recruiting sources to identify and recruit candidates.
  • Schedules department interviews and provides interview questionnaire to maintain uniformity and consistency in the process.
  • Works with department hiring authority to arrive at appropriate job offers, working within company guidelines and approved wage scales. Seeks approval for job offers outside of approved wages.
  • Performs reference checks and background reports on applicants as directed by management.
  • Makes job offers and arranges pre-employment drug/alcohol testing for New Hires.
  • Compiles all documents required to complete a personnel file and to satisfy the minimum qualifications as listed in the job description of the position being filled (e.g. High School diploma or GED, college degree, motor vehicle record, non-compete agreement or specialized certifications).
  • Maintains records that track the hiring process for every newly hired employee. Keeps department managers apprised of the status of their new employees upon request.
  • Coordinates New Hires' application for gaming license and communicates with the Community Regulatory Agency (CRA) regarding any licensing issues.
  • Notifies the New Hire when their badge has been approved and schedules them for New Hire Orientation.
  • Creates required notification to HRIS of imminent new employee as well as status of a promotion or transfer of an existing employee.
  • Creates personnel files of New Hires including, but limited to, required documents and authorizations as required by management. Maintains employment records within personnel files.
  • Provides back-up to front desk reception if needed.

Education and/or Experience

HS/GED required. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in Human Resources or related field; 2 years' experience primarily in recruitment and staffing for a large company, hospitality industry experience strongly preferred and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and Human Resources work experience that provided up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have excellent PC skills and a strong working knowledge of Human Resources systems; Microsoft Office applications are strongly preferred. Must have a strong working knowledge of Internet recruiting.

  • Must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts and practices as they relate to networking and lead/prospect development through research and sourcing techniques.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be flexible in relation to work schedule in order to be able to meet with company hiring authorities, internal and external job applicants when they are available.
  • Must have a proven track record of dependability, punctuality and an excellent attendance record.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk and occasionally to stand for prolonged periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
