Positions in this function create and deliver high quality system solutions for our applications, products and services across all technology functions. They consult with users and technology specialists to define business processes and the information systems for supporting those processes. Individuals in these roles may perform analysis and also serve as business liaisons to understand and refine business requirements. They provide technical support in developing systems that are cost effective and meet users' requirements. This function works to create systems that work together in a cohesive manner, enforcing standards and methods consistently across the enterprise. Roles may support both current system improvements and maintenance along with new system development.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Elicit business requirements from stakeholders; document business requirements; identify problems that need to be solved; understand stakeholder pain points, what keeps them up at night, and any roadblocks to growth
  • Write process flows, swim lane diagrams and solution context documents
  • Manage central intake process to capture all Tech demand
  • Translate business requirements into Technical requirements
  • Facilitates prioritization discussions to align on a single backlog
  • Identifies Technology Re-use opportunities
  • Work closely with Product Strategy, Operations, Quality Assurance and Development teams to ensure Customer problems are solved
  • Prioritize Defects and Track progress towards Release of Product
  • Understand data privacy and government regulations
  • Achieve goals in a matrix environment and demonstrate ability to work collaboratively and influence others
  • Ensure all solutions adhere to enterprise IT principles, standards, and healthcare industry standards and regulations
  • Work closely with solution engineering, development teams and vendors to ensure that a coherent and consistent approach to design, implementation and integration is achieved
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance to delivery teammates including reference implementation, design patterns and best practice guidelines
  • Design and architect solutions across various technology platforms to help satisfy growing business needs
  • Drive solution sessions and create detail solution documents for the technology development team to execute
  • Serve as a liaison between business and technology organizations
  • Ensure stakeholder requirements get captured clearly and assist with prioritization of requirements
  • Guide the estimation of project cost and assist business counterparts in selecting appropriate solutions based on budget and business constraints
  • Create and own solution diagrams, solution documents and other enterprise required artifacts
  • Ensure alignment to enterprise standards and goals by working with the core clinical architecture team
  • Translates customer needs into high quality system solutions and ensures effective operational outcomes
  • Gather, validate and translate business requirements
  • Understand and apply technology to solve business problems
  • Ensure non-functional requirements are considered as part of solution (e.g., reliability, availability, security, usability)
  • Understand and apply software development methodologies
  • Collaborate in testing process to ensure business requirements are accounted for in solution testing
  • Understands and applies the protocols, procedures, processes and techniques to prevent the unauthorized access to and protection of systems and data and complies with applicable contractual, regulatory, statutory, and company policies

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a liaison between business and technology organizations
  • 2+ years of experience evaluating new technology frameworks and creating prototypes
  • 2+ years of Health Care IT experience
  • Experience in driving solutions that map to the global target architecture, standards, and roadmaps in a distributed hardware, operating systems, and cloud computing
  • Experience analyzing the current business, detecting critical deficiencies, and recommending solutions for improvement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Health Care IT experience: ex: EHR, Practice Management, Interface Engines, HL7, CDA, or DICOM

Colorado Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $94,500 to $171,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
