This position is responsible for teaching face-to-face classes as assigned by the Academic Dean. Assignments will start in August 2022. Teaching assignments located at Iowa Western in Council Bluffs, IA and Cass County Center in Atlantic, IA.
Must evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses in accordance with college and division policies and procedures.
Topics needed for instruction:
Maintenance Operations Predictive and Preventative Maintenance Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems Process Control Systems Print Reading Troubleshooting Principles
All manufacturing labs must meet safety regulations. Other duties include, but are not limited to: teaching classroom and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, lab oversight and safety activities, student success, student recruitment, and responsibility for materials and supplies. Candidates interviewed may be required to provide a teaching demonstration.
6000 hours of manufacturing work experience OR possess a combination of an associate degree in manufacturing and at least 3,000 hours of recent, relevant tested manufacturing experience.
Usage of an online learning management system is required.
The hiring process includes the ability to pass a background check, a valid driver's license, and a good driving record.
Teaching experience is preferred.
Strong motivation to work/serve students.
Requires prolonged standing or sitting. Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching. May require heavy lifting depending on assignment and lab. Requires the safe use of welding equipment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment, and ability to work with diverse populations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, and use a phone. Some travel, by vehicle, may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, social interaction skills, reasoning/analysis, and ability to work with minimal supervision, high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills with the teaching and learning process, and high level of inter-personal skills is preferred.
